As an enthusiastic photographer, I have spent a lot of time trying to find the best WordPress photography theme to showcase my photographs. I hear you ask, “why just for WordPress?”
Well, WP accounts for almost 25% of all websites worldwide as of now, May 2015, and its share will probably continue to rise in the coming years. It is one of the most stable and well-developed platforms available.
The reason WordPress is so popular is that it has a simple, user-friendly interface, combined with an unlimited ability to customize themes and plugins. There is also plenty of opportunity to write your own HTML or CSS code should you have the skills and/or inclination – but, you don’t have to by any means!
Whether you are a developer or not, you can find loads of useful WordPress tutorials that will enable you to build complex websites with ease. I have used WordPress to build several websites and have picked up coding techniques along the way – familiarity, in this case, does not breed contempt – it has created a skill! But, we’re not here to look at coding, just to dive into some great WordPress themes – that have all the coding done for you!
Showcase Your Photographs With Panache
This is my personal choice of the best WordPress photography themes available to date. Many of them are premium themes – and well worth it. Free themes may often lack useful functionality, so be aware!
“You get what you pay for,” so pay nothing, and expect very little! I like to look at it this way. You pay for a pro to highly develop a theme that can perform magic, and pay under $100 for it. Versus a free theme that can’t do very much, with you trying to add code and waste your valuable time tinkering with it. I’d go with functionality any day!
ALWAYS, go for the best theme you can afford.
Whether you are a professional photographer or a happy snapper with an iPhone, doesn’t matter, you are capable of taking fantastic photographs. You can, of course, upload your photos to specialist photo sites, like FineArtAmerica, ImageKind, 500px and many more. But why not also look for a professional platform to showcase them yourself?
Keep reading, and I will show you some awesome themes to use that have fabulous flexibility, look great and certainly won’t break the bank.
Facebook, Instagram and a host of others have enabled photography to become a popular form of art, thanks to their photo sharing services. Images taken by smartphones are usually of great quality, so why not show them off in a bespoke website of your own? And even earn money from them.
Create your own photography blog or portfolio website and build it on WordPress.
Look for responsive themes. What are they?
Responsive means that theme is optimized to work with all device sizes, such as PC’s, laptops, tablets, and smartphones. Google ranks responsive themes on their mobile-friendliness.
